Modern embossing and overlay finishes have got good enough that the difference is a close-up conversation, not a street-view one. On a west-facing elevation with no overhang — where real cedar needs recoating every three years — this is usually the recommendation we would give a friend.
Walnut, mahogany, medium and dark oak. Warm through to almost black.
