Custom Coachman (painted steel carriage style)
A builder's door on a multi-million dollar house, and a long consultation to find what should have been there.

BeforeAfterIn this very special project, the homeowner contacted J.Mac Doors looking for something unique for his home. This multi-million dollar home had been fitted with what we call a “builder's door” — something basic to do the job, but not really complementing the home. The original door lacked character and the windows were too small for the height of the door.
Originally the homeowner had liked the idea of the aluminum with frosted glass door (Avante). While the Avante door is an architectural focal point, its contemporary style and lack of insulation led us to explore other options.
During our consultations, we explored carriage style doors including semi-custom wood, custom wood, and the Coachman. We created several images of the home with various design options.
The final selection was the Coachman door, a steel carriage style door with composite overlay. Painting the top section black, and adding frosted glass, created a truly unique and custom door.
